A week of firsts

I will start with the fun stuff first.
Anderson had his first baby shower this past weekend! A few friends from the dental hygiene program put this together, it was a baby shower/class get together. This first part was my shower which turned out really nice. I was a bit nervous at first because I hadn't registered at the time the invites went out since it was back at our graduation in the beginning of May. So I thought he was going to get a bunch of clothes, which is fine (I'm not being greedy), but he has soooo many clothes that I knew they would never all get used. But everybody did such a good job for not going of a registry! He got a lot of necessities like diapers/wipes, dreft, onesies, blankets, pj's, first aid kit, bathtub, bath wash/lotion, socks, toys etc. I was able to just go back and take some of that stuff off our registry. Everything else was great, yummy cake, a really cute diaper cake, and this super cute cradle made out of a whole watermelon with the fruit inside it! After the games, presents and cake we all got into party mode. Sarah lives on the lake and that was where the party was, so we made some drinks (virgin style for me), put on our swimsuits and went out on the pontoon boat. It was a perfect evening for relaxing on the lake and catching up with our classmates who we were so used to seeing EVERYDAY for 2 years straight. Afterwards we had a bonfire and made s'mores! It was a fun day! Thanks Jen, Sarah and Alex!

So fastforward through the weekend and on Tuesday I decided to be one of those first time preggos and we had our first trip to labor and delivery. I had noticed that Anderson wasn't very active for a few days. He was still moving but it wasn't very much. At first I didn't think much of it and finally on Monday his movements were very light. That is unusual for him because they were getting really strong, strong enough to where we could actually see them by just looking at my stomach. So that night I paid really close attention and he hardly moved all evening, and that is when is is most active. So the next morning I ate breakfast and did the same thing because morning is his active time too. Well there was like one faint movement and by then I was really worried. I called the Dr. and they told me to go to L&D. Off we went. Got hooked up to the fetal monitor, HR was good and a few minutes later he was moving all over! Dr. P was called and he ordered an u/s to have the amniotic fluid checked and that came back normal too! Thank goodness, I knew deep down that he was fine, but I needed that reassurance and I would rather be safe than sorry.

I went to L&D a couple of times. They reassured me that they would rather have me come up than worry. You definitely did the right thing.

Glad to hear your shower went well.

I would still love to get together soon!
